Reddit, what's the most stuck-up, rudest, most money obsessed thing you've heard someone say? I'll start. I'm in highschool and our class was doing this donation for charity families thing on Christmas. One of the families was asking for essentials they didn't have, including soap, blankets, deodorant, etc.
  • 03
Apparently a group of guys. thought this was the most hilarious thing ever. "Why the would they want soap for Christmas lololol" "Why not ask for iPods lol" They then proceeded to explain what they're getting for Christmas, all while browsing their brand new Iphone 4's.

[deleted] I was touring a college and some really preppy girls where behind me. I overheard a bit of their conversation, and one girl said, "I just like, can't imagine not styling my hair every day, or not wearing make-up. And like, people. who wear sweatpants or Wal-Mart... Why can't they just buy brand names? I can't imagine that."

rawrboo My roommate can be very snobby. To impress her rich friend who came up for a visit, she was talking about how every girl in the world can afford Tiffany's and Couch purses are for poor people. And if you can't afford either, well, you're just sad. I literally had to leave the room.

RaptorPrincess My best friend throughout high school grew up in a richer-than-most family (her mom was a realtor in our affluent suburb, and her dad had his own company and had a 6-figure income). As a result, my friend, though loving and caring, had a terrible concept of money.

Worst offenses: "I know I'm 18, but I deserve that BMW they gave me." (When her parents threatened to take it back because she hadn't gotten a job until senior year)

"I won't marry a man unless he's making 6 figures by the time he's 30."- This one just makes me sad, as she's beautiful and I knew a few great guys who cared about her. This has also led her into abusive relationships (because they were "well- off"), and she's now convinced there's "no good guys out there."

She asks me how I got so lucky with my fiance, but I can't find a nice way to say, "because I love him for him, not for his wallet."

Beard_of_life "We saw popular people wearing Lulu lemon jackets, so we thought if we got the jackets, we would be popular too." They said it word for word, no irony intended. I facepalmed so hard I broke my skull against a wall and d

CosineX A "friend" of mine berated a waitress over the quality of the brie pastry puffs she'd paid $6 for. This was in a rural Canadian pub. Needless to say we don't talk much anymore. Bonus round: She once told me that someone as smart as me should spend $700 on a Coach purse so people knew I was better than them.

1independentmale This one was all me: A buddy of mine used to hold informal poker games at his house. A bunch of us would go over and gamble with the spare change from our ashtrays, nothing major, just good clean fun. Anyway, I stopped by a local pizza place one night and picked up four pizzas for everyone to enjoy. It was a higher end, independent Italian

restaurant with super good food, but it was pricey: ~$22 each. Well, they were super late in getting the pizzas out of the oven. I didn't care, but the manager apologized profusely and gave them to me for free, which I thought was totally awesome. When I got to the poker game I was so excited at getting free pizzas, I was telling an acquaintance and his wife

about it, and how it was especially cool because these pizzas are normally so expensive. The conversation went something like this: Him: How much were they normally? Me: Over $20 each! Him: Isn't that what a pizza costs these days?
  • 19
Me: Well, not if you get something cheap, like Dominos. (All the big pizza chains are always running ads where you can get a large pizza for $8, etc). They said nothing and we all went about our business. I went to set the pizzas down in the kitchen and there were several pizzas already in there. They were from Dominos, and the couple I was just speaking with had

brought them. I felt like such an I really had no idea, and was not trying to come off as a money obsessed snob, but I'm positive that's the impression I left.

markamus Several years ago, a friend of mine asked me to IM a girl he had been dating. I can't remember the exact reason, but it was something along the lines of trying to see what kind of person she really was when she wasn't talking to him. She asked me what kind of car I drove, I told her I was in the process of finding one I like so I can take it for a test drive.
  • 22
Her response: "Why do you test drive it? You go to the lot and you buy it." My reponse: "I can't afford a new car. I am looking for a used car." Her response: "Well you're probably not my type of guy then. Bye"

rdmiller3 My ex-wife on the division of assets: I went to college! I got good grades! I should have everything! Charming, right?

I have a recording of her screaming that, and other genuinely crazy I play it when I start thinking that maybe the marriage wasn't really so bad.

thatscentaurtain... On Facebook back during the halcyon days of the 99% movement this girl I know posted a picture of one of those hand-written signs as a status. On the sign was written something along the lines of "I worked my way through college and graduated debt free, I am NOT the 99% and whether you are or not is your decision" (note: she did not
  • 26
make the sign, she took it from reddit or some conservative blog). I replied saying that unless someone makes over $500k a year they are not part of the 1% and that it's not a choice but rather a measure of economic position. The girl who posted the image responded by saying that "it is a position, the difference is who you hold responsible for it."
  • 27
I don't know which was worse, the fact that her goal in life is to become part of that 1% or that she thinks that everyone in the 99% simply wants to become part of the 1%. Also, fun fact: her parents are rich and pay for her (out of country) college and housing.

FFEMT39 I was waiting for a certificate from one of the trainings I had completed. It ended up being sent to the wrong department and that department wouldn't pay the $1.50 to mail it to me since the post office messed it up and wouldn't pay to send it to me. I had to wait over 2 months for it until I finally ended up at the station and picked it up.

Latin722 I can't remember too many, but one does stick out. "Don't offer small drinks, you can offer them medium or large. If they ask for a small tell them we ran out of cups. I pray to god i never have to work there again."
